Swollen lymph nodes beside armpit

What might cause a very sore swollen lymph node just under skin in area between armpit and breast?

I had an Adnexal tumor-syringomatous carcinoma removed in 3/2002. I was told my the surgeon the size of the tumor was that of a golf ball. Within this past week I noticed a very sore/painful swollen lymph node in area near where the tumor was removed. It is under the skin and cannot be seen by looking at it. I saw my PCP and he did not answer my question regarding this issue acutally he totally ignored me. The lymph node is still swollen and very sore.

Who do I see for this issue? Since I have already had one tumor removed I am a bit worried about this lump. Has anyone had any experiences similar to mine?  I would truely appreciate input.

Thank you so much for the information you gave me. I talked with my PCP and he suggested I see my GYN. I have scheduled an appointment with her. She was the doctor that discovered the lump that turned out to be malignant.

I am sorry for being a dummy regarding the "Pls" acronym.
I am not up on the short cut language. My kids think I am a bit of a fuddy duddy when it comes to this. I have just recently started texting messages on my cell phone to them.

Thank you again.

Thank you for your information. It has helped. I have one question, What does Pls stand for? I am assuming this is an acronymn for a type of medical care provider but cannot find a definition for this.

Again, thank you for your information.

Hello,
Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Other causes include allergic reactions, arthritis, cancer, metabolic diseases, and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).Since you have a history of malignancy ,so I would definitely advise a physician’s evaluation and preferably a FNAC to confirm the cause of this lymphadenopathy(whether metastasis or not).Pls get it done soon.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
