Thinning of skin from use of topical steroid

I am 45 yrs old and have been diagnosed as having psoriasis located on the glans of my penis. For several years I have been using a prescribed .1% topical steroid (I am careful to not get ointment on surrounding area). This controls the scaling but over the past several months, I have been suffering from severe breakage and thinning of the foreskin around my penis. I am uncircumsised but have had no problems previously. The broken skin doesn't seem to heal and the breakage occurs even as I wash.
Is there something I can do to stop this problem and prevent future problems?

Normally such a weak cortisone wouldn't thin the skin, but perhaps chronic use in such a sensitive area might. But thinning is always temporary. So for a month or two, just use vaseline and see if the cracks heal over. If they don't, you ought to see a dermatologist for definitve diagnosis.
