ThymuSkin for alopecia universalis

ThymuSkin for alopecia universalis

My 26 year old son has had alopecia universalis for four years.  In the last 6 mos he has been experiencing some regrowth on his head and beard without treatment of any kind.  He has had minimal re-growth on his eyebrows and no eyelashes.  He did try conventional treatments for the first 2 years or so through the University of Minnesota, without success.  He has seen some advertising for ThymuSkin as a successful treatment for alopecia.  However, it is quite expensive.  We would like to know if this is a viable treatment for alopecia or not, as well as if it has any side effects.  He is taking Topamax to control seizures.  Also, I would like to know if since he has experienced some regrowth, if there was anything a dermatologist could give him to possibly increase the growth rate?

To be frank, there aren't any useful treatments that are safe and effective for alopecia universalis.  The many remedies peddled on the internet are not worth trying.  Even after years, the hair follicles are still alive, and therefore regrowth can occur.  Any hair that grows back in may fall out again, of course.  Hairpieces may be worth considering, though many men now shave their heads, and this look is rather fashionable aming young men, so that may be a better bet for your son.

Best.
