Tinea Nigra/ Hyperhidrosis

Hi, I am a Greenville, NC resident and I have a brown, irregular, patchy discoloration on my right palm.  The discoloration showed up about 4 or so years ago and even though I had never noticed it before I assumed it was a birthmark.  Well it seems to come and go or maybe I just notice it every so often when I think about it.  I forgot about it until the other day when I realized that it had pretty much doubled in size.  So I finally googled around until I found what seemed to be a diagnosis.  I believe I have Tinea Nigra.  I also suffer from excessive sweating of the palms and feet.  I'm undoubtedly sure I have palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis.  Anyways the discoloration on my hand when introduced to water comes out even more and seems to consist of ridges.  I live on the coast and throughout my life have swam in at beaches, in rivers, and in creeks.  

I just want to know if I should seek a dermatologist's help?

Best to get a fungus scraping done by your derm.
