Tiny black dots under tongue
I meant to post this in the dental forum so I hope it arrives at the correct physician I noticed that my tongue was somewhat white coated and checked it with a flashlight. Came to realize that it was just the residue from the antiacid tablet I had just chewed. What a relief.
However, as I was doing this I noticed a very small, and by that I mean pin ***** size red spot under the tongue. Not on the tongue it self but under it toward the bottom of the supporting muscle for the tongue. About an inch or so behind the bottom row of teeth near where the bottom of the mouth divides to go under neath each side of the tongue. That did not surprise me since little things like this appear from time to time. However, near it there appear to be two black pin pricks as well and when I looked on the other side of this supporting structure I saw another. These are very very tiny. as I said pin pricks. At first I thought they were perhaps tiny particles of black pepper or something like that. But they do not scrape off. I have noticed that when the skin is stretched, they seem to vanish. When the pressure is released they come back. I am no completely sure they are black, could be the lighting that makes them appear that way. As I say they are very very tiny. They are also in almost the exact same position on each side of the bottom of the tongue support muscle. I have heard that when that occurs, often they are normal structures. I do smoke which scares me since when you read anything on the internet about black spots in the mouth the prognosis is almost always fatal or at least very serious. I recently had a health scare that terrorized me for a week and finally had to have anti-anxiety medicine to stop it. So this additional thing is literally scaring me to death. I am anguishing over this more than you can imagine and of course am suspecting the worse (the darn internet will scare anyone to death with all of its information, everything including hangnails seem to result in a hideous death if you believe all you read. I would appreciate any help you can give to give me some hope. I should mention that last year my dentist did examine my mouth for problems and said he saw nothing whatsoever. But these may not have been there then or as I said they are very very tiny and disappear when the tissue is stretched. Could they possible just be ends of capillaries that are showing. Please reassure me.

It is common to have small, bluish blood vessels in exactly the place you describe. You probably just noticed them because you were looking at your tongue. I advise you to show this to a doctor or dentist for reassurance and to avoid internet chat rooms.

I think I know exactly what you mean, and I see them all the time. Your dentist will set you straight. Why not call and demand an earlier visit? Shouldn't take but a minute.

The area I am speaking of is about 1/2 inch below the end of the line leading from the label for "tongue" and the second is on the other side of the lower tongue in almost the same position.
I was not sure I had explained clearly the area I was speaking of. They are so small that I am not sure even my dentist would see them if they were not pointed out and as I said, with almost any pressure they fade to nothing. Hope this is helpful.

When I posted this question I did it from the Dental Forum. Somehow it ended up here. If you feel that you can answer it, please feel free to do so. You sure have been helpful in the past. If not, I would appreciate it if you could forward it to the Dental forum if that is possible. Right now $19 is not a sum I can afford to waste.
