Differentials for whitish bumps on the lips may be a fungal infection or a herpes simplex type 1 infection as in the case of cold sores .These conditions may be spread through direct skin to skin contact. Kissing may readily spread a fungal or viral infection. For fungal infections, antifungal gels may be able to help. As for cold sores, there is no single definite treatment for this. Antiviral medications may be taken orally on the 2nd or 3rd day after the onset of blisters.
