Tiny white bumps around/on lips, what are they?

by kalik, Aug 09, 2008 03:09PM
Recently after kissing my boyfriend, little white bumps appear. I don't even notice until I look in a mirror. It looks like acne, but on my lips. They're little white oozing bubbles. This happened less than six months ago when I had a different boyfriend. I went to the doctor and got medication. It only got worse if we kissed. I'm thinking that I'm allergic to facial oils? Or is it even an allergic reaction at all? The medication helps and it goes away if we don't kiss for a while. But right after it goes away and I think it's okay, they come back. Is there a name for this?

Hi

Differentials for whitish bumps on the lips may be a fungal infection or a herpes simplex type 1 infection as in the case of cold sores .These conditions may be spread through direct skin to skin contact. Kissing may readily spread a fungal or viral infection. For fungal infections, antifungal gels may be able to help. As for cold sores, there is no single definite treatment for this. Antiviral medications may be taken orally on the 2nd or 3rd day after the onset of blisters.

Avoid any skin to skin contact as this may be contagious. Cold sores may resolve spontaneously but may recur from time to time in the presence of stress, smoking, heat and other factors.

Are there any lumps noted on the neck or other parts of the body?
