Toenail Fungus - Help

I've been battling toenail fungus for over 6 years .. any advice that actually works? I've tried everything .. vinegar, clorox, all of the Rx creams .. frustrated and tired of it, and embarrased to go barefoot or with sandals.

Hello,
In onychomycosis(nail fungal infection) nail plate can have a thickened, yellow, or cloudy appearance. The nails can become rough and crumbly, or can separate from the nail bed. Topical and oral antifungals are needed which are available under prescription. Also nail fungal infection may take a bit longer like months to go away. So it is important to use the topical and oral antifungals as and when prescribed by a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi,
Thanks for query. Fungal infection in toe nail needs long term treatment. The nail is the most difficult from where the fungus can be eradicated. You need take anti fungal tablet for at least 9-12 months. The entire nail plate takes 9-12 months to be replaced so you need to take this tablet for long time. No topical drugs only will be effective. Please talk to your physician for this.

Wishing you good health.
