Too much sex, yeast infection and then a wart?

by girlnextdoor, Jul 09, 2004 12:00AM
My boyfriend lives far away and we spent the July 4th weekend together, having sex for the first time (four times in something like a day and a half, each time lasting pretty long). We used a condom each time and I had some type of reaction to the condom or lube and ended up with a nasty yeast infection that I treated with yogurt and garlic.

I got the yeast infection on Tuesday and then on Wednesday, as I was "checking things out," I found a small, somewhat tender red bump on my vulva. I assumed it was just a pimple from sitting in yogurt for two days, but on Thursday, it became two small, very red, whitehead-like bumps on the side of my vulva and I promptly freaked out.
The whole area was still really itchy (from the yeast infection?), but it all felt much better with some anti-itch cream.
Today it's Friday and the bumps look even bigger and are very tender and with bigger white tops. I tried to pop one and it bled a little, but no pus that I could see.

Some websites say that red bumps with white tops are genital warts--is that what I have? I have a wart on my finger.

The boyfriend says he has irritation "at the base" and we're both worried. I'm 24, he's 29 and neither of us has ever had a problem and my paps have always been clean and in the past (last partners other than each other were about 4-6 months ago), we've both always used condoms and previous partners were also always clean.

I've shaved in the past and now I have what's called "a full bikini wax," although there's still some hair where I have these bumps.

I've called several gyno offices, but can't get an appt for another 2 weeks.

Do I have warts? Do I have an STD? Am I contagious?
What can I do to make these go away?
We were talking about me going on the pill (to avoid more reactions to the condoms), but now I'm worried that I have some type of previously latent STD and that I could have given it to him.

No, I don't think you have an STD.  The bumps sound like blocked or infected follicles and not at all like warts.  My advice is to leave the bumps alone (no squeezing), apply bacitracin or neosporin ointment once a day, and show them to a doctor.  I also advise you to show your "yeast infection" to a doctor, since I have at least a suspicion that you have irritation and not yeast.  Even if it is yeast, there are much simpler ways to treat it than sitting in yogurt.

Finding out for sure what you have will save a lot of anxiety now and later.

Best.
