Transparent bumps all over body

by Cori1985, Nov 04, 2009 11:17AM
my 1½-yr-old was got his chicken pox shot and several days later formed these red bumps allover his body, we we're told it was slap cheek or better known as 5th diease( a mutated version of the chicken pox) That has went away, but he keeps tranparent bumps all over his body. He has then gotten an ear infection and his medicine broke him out in a rash all over. It has been over a month since he's had medicine but he still has the bumps. I don't know if the itch or not. He'll be playing and all of a sudden last out crying, could this be b/c of the bumps? Does anyone have any ideas what the bumps could be? When I ask his doctor they're not sure and just give me benadryl adn say it will clear up, well its been 2 weeks and still nothing. If you have any ideas let me know it will be greatly appreciated. I just don't know what to do and I feel for the little guy b/c it affects his sleeping as well as my own.

This also sounds like Sixth Disease. Research that and you may find it makes more sense. Just a thought.

To: Cori1985,
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it sounds like molluscum contagiosum. Molluscum contagiosum is a common, benign, self limiting viral infection of the skin. It generally affects children and typically occurs in the 2-5 age group. Treatment includes physical destruction or manual extrusion of the lesions, cryotherapy, and curettage.

A dermatologist’s evaluation will be the best in this case because treatment is diagnosis specific. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.

My finace was thinking something along those lines too. He was thinking it was a type of shingles thats a viral infection in the nervous system. I am making a doctors appointment for our son and I'm going to mention all that was said on here and see where that gets me. Thanks for your help

I looked up the sixth dieasewhich is really similar to the fifth diease. The rash is really close to that but its not red and he has had the rash/bumps for more that 3-5 days. It just doesn't seem to go away. Thanks fot responding back.
