Treatment for keratosis pilaris

Treatment for keratosis pilaris

I have had keratosis pilaris for most of my life (I am 26 now) I have seen dermatologists and they have said I will grow out of it, but I think it is getting worse. I have very red, bumpy cheeks and my eyebrows are falling out. I also have it on my arms, legs and buttocks. I have tried urea creams, lactic acid creams, exfoliating and moisturising but nothing seems to work. And I cannot exfoliate my face as it gets really red and inflamed and takes hours to return to "normal" I am a compulsive picker so I keep on making my arms and legs worse and scarred. I have to wear thick foundation every day to cover the redness on my face and I am embarassed to show my arms and legs in public. I really need some suggestions on what I can do to improve my situation as it is ruining my life.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Hello,
Keratosis pilaris occurs when the human body produces excess keratin, a natural protein in the skin. There is currently no known cure for keratosis pilaris, however, there are effective treatments available which make its symptoms less apparent. Treatment includes tretinoin or Triamcinolone cream or Adapalene, a retinoid medication. Exfoliation, intensive moisturizing creams, creams and lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids and urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin.

You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.

Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
