Underarm rashes and small bumps

My wife (50) has developed some rashes in her underarm and one painful bumpy mass.
Would this be an infected lymph node?

I really hope you can help me as I am beside myself with worry.I have had this soft moveable pea sized bump for over a month now..when it first surfaced it was very red and painful ..I  squeezed it and puss came out and a little blood..i s still there..no pain just a little sore when squeezed..now I just noticed a rash around the bump may have shrank a little..and now has two purplish/black dots in it...please give me some ideas as  to what it could be ..I am fearing the worst..and cannot afford to see a Dr. thankyou!!!

Hi

There can be many causes for underarm rash e.g. dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic), heat rash, excessive sweating, folliculitis, boils, scabies, psoriasis, some infection leading to enlargement of axillary lymph nodes. Sometimes even breast cancer or hodgins disease may present with enlarged axillary lymph nodes.
It would he helpful if you could describe the rash as to the appearance and any history of allergies and any other associated symptoms present. You wife should use an antibacterial soap, avoid deodorant / cosmetics and wear loose fitting clothes.
Since it is impossible to diagnose skin conditions without actually able to examine the patient, I suggest that you consult a dermatologist who can determine the cause and prescribe appropriate treatment for it.
Regards.
