Unexplained eczema type lesions

by AlabamaAngel, Nov 16, 2008 08:32AM
I have had a rash for approximately 7/8 years. It has gotten significantly worse in the last year. On my legs it looks like very dry red skin, in round patches mostly. Sometimes they get infected or bleed but this is rare. All eczema creams or body lotions tend to irritate it and dont help. It is all over my back and in small round patches on my arms. It gets much worse in the heat or when I am stressed or ill. It has recently spread to my face where it is very red small round patches, not clear in centre like ringworm. No creams seem to ease the dryness, fungal creams made it spread like wildfire and steroid creams do nothing. I am now at a stage where i cant even wash my face as it irritates it so much. I have CFS / Fibromyalgia too (or that is what the doctors diagnosed me with anyway) and I have had the rash as long as my other symptoms. My doctors are a bit slow and have failed to link the two. My GP has diagnosed pityriasis rosea (which i dont think it can be as that is self limiting) or discoid eczema (in which case it would surely respond to steroids?). he has done no tests to diagnose these.I am at my breaking point now. i cant wear makeup as my skin is too dry and flakey, and my self esteem is rock bottom. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help.

As an add to the above post, My doctor is actually really helpful and supportive. I'm just getting frustrated as nothing seems to work and Im worried that something more serious may have been missed. Thanks, xx
