Unhealed tick bite

Twelve years ago I woke up with a tick stuck to my shoulder. My wife and I tried several ideas to get it to release but it wouldn't. Finally I told her to just pull it out. Subsequently a wound appeared that has never healed. It sometimes gets better and looks as if it will heal, then it gets worse. It has a scab most of the time and bleeds on occasion. Any ideas for treatment?

Tick bite granuloma may persist for years. This may be due to retained parts or secretions. This may also represent a neurodermatitis type of response due to scraching.
Perhaps topical or intralesional steroids would be of help.Do consult your doc and discuss as to the modalities of treatment after due confirmation of  diagnosis.
Best wishes.

I have a few tick bite granulomas myself and I am researching treatment options. Other than complete surgical resection, Cordran (Flurandrenolide tape), corticosteroids, would cryogenic removal or cautery be an effective treatment?
