Unknown Bites

I have small fluid filled bumps sprouting up in different places on my body. They do not itch and sometimes they turn red. What can this be????

Hi

There could be several causes for these fluid filled bumps such as hives, insect bites, dermatitis or any allergic reaction. It would be difficult to assess without having a look at the lesions.

Hives or urticaria is a common skin condition, which causes red and sometimes itchy bumps on your skin. Hives can occur anywhere on the body such as the trunk, arms, and legs. Hives are usually allergic (food, medication and insect stings) but may also be due to infections and stress. Many a times no specific cause for them is ever found.

Sometimes rapid reaction occurs like wheezing, excessive stomachache, difficulty in breathing, swelling of tongue, throat or even anaphylaxis.

You should consult a dermatologist for a complete clinical examination and entire tests for allergy panel. The most commonly used oral treatments are antihistaminics (such as cetirizine, loratidine, benadryl). ). You should try applying calamine lotion locally, which has a soothing effect and avoid using any cosmetic products.

Do write in if you need any other information.
Take care
