I was wondering if stretch marks from childbirth could cause itching years later? I had my child over 7 years ago and had very bad stretch marks which have stayed with me ever since. And it seems that every evening (6pm on) they itch very badly. I have tried changing laundry soap, daily soap and types of clothing and showering twice a day. It does not happen anywhere else on my body except on my stretch marks. Doctors have given me prescription creams but nothing works and I have tried every body and cleaning soap possible. If you have any suggestions I would be grateful.

Michael:

I cannot understand why the itch should be just on the stretch marks, although keloid (raised) scars sometimes itch years later, and stretch marks are a form of scar as well.

In any case, I suggest you go to your pharmacy and ask for a lotion containing pramoxine (no prescription needed.)  This is an anesthetic, which is excellent for soothing itch and burn of whatever kind.  I am sure your sensations will subside once you block the urge to scratch.

Best.

I have an abrasion on my tounge from a partial plate, the
dentist said it would go away, but it hasn't.  I have tried
Listerene every night and also salt water, nothing seems to work.
I keeps rubbing and making a grove in my tounge, sometimes it is
very painful.
Do you have any suggestions?  I have also seen the Dr. and he said the same thing, it will go away.  In the meantime it just
gets worse.

Approximately three weeks ago I noticed a irritated, circular red patch on my upper inner thigh.  Thinking it was just one more spider bite, I ignored it until the redness began spreading with increased, very intensive itching. Now, three weeks later, there seems to be a cycle i.e. intense itching and inflammation, followed by dryness to the area (now approximately 5 inches long and 2 inches wide).  Just when I think it's going away. Viola!

Is this a fungus, perhaps?  Would appreciate your reply ASAP with appropriate medication.  Thank you.
