Urticaria induced by environmental surroundings?

Urticaria induced by environmental surroundings?

I was diagnosed with pressure induced urticaria 1 1/2 yrs ago. Im 47, female. Then, 7 months ago, a female co-worker was also diagnosed. She's 44. Now, my male supervisor has also been diagnosed. I first thought it was something to do with peri-menopause, but now that a 61 year old man has it, I wonder if there is something in our building causing it. We work in offices that were probably built in the 1970's. Is it possible an environmental factor is causing this? We're all on anti-histimines now.

Hi,

You may be right in thinking that there may be a common factor which is causing this condition in all of you.

Usually this may need to be investigated. However, this may need to be arrived by a matter of elimination.
Patients suffer from wheals or itching, almost daily, for over six weeks, with no obvious cause. The body is, in effect, seeing something as an enemy and reacting to dispel the intruder.

You may wash their clothes in a natural detergent, use only fragrance-free products, and try to eliminate food allergies as a possible cause for their condition.

other than elimiation of the causative agent and taking anti-histamines there may not be much that may be done.

hope this helped. best regards
