Use of Luxiq

by NYRR, Jun 05, 2004 12:00AM
I’m  use Luxiq occasionally for Seborrheic Dermatitis.  The other day I applied it to the back of my head and felt  a stingy feeling which I never felt before using Luxiq.  I noticed that the area very red and raw.  Most likely it was like this before I applied Luxiq.  My concern is that an inordinate amount of Luxiq was absorbed in my bloodstream.  Is this possible?  Can this cause an adverse effect?  I have had an unusual amount of headaches.  I'm also using Ultravate for a skin rash.  Can this be a contradiction when using Luxiq?

Luxiq is just a mild steroid (betamethasone) in a very nice mousse base.  There is minimal absorption through the skin, even it's raw.  Not to worry.  If the headaches persist, ask a doctor about them, but the Luxiq isn't the cause.

As to the rawness on your scalp, if that is from scratching, it's best to stop and the Luxiq will heal it up.  If it doesn't, your dermatologist should have a look.

Take care.
