Use of Retin A

I have been using Retin A Micro for about 3 weeks now.  The problem is my skin looks worse now than when I started using it!  It seems to be breaking out more now.  In the instructions that came with the medication it said I might experience beakouts early on in treatment.  How long will this last?  Will it improve soon?

Michele:

Hang in there.  The redness can last for a few weeks, but it doesn't damage or dry out the skin.  You might try using it every other day for a while.  If you're not sure, talk to the doctor who prescribed it for possible modifications of the regimen.  But it's good stuff, and is likely to help you.

Best.

Michele,

I have been using Retin A for a couple of months now. It seems to be the only thing that works for my skin. Are you using the Cream based or the Gel based? I use .025% of the Gel form. I think it works better because it dries the skin out more. I don't trust lotion based products, because it always tends to make my skin worse. Even if its not supposed to clog pores. Hope this helps.
