Hi I am wondering if you have any information that could help my husband.
For about the last 2 months he has had very dry and flaky genitals with an itch
We tryed a cpl different things ..Gold bond and that helped for an hr or so ..Clotrimazole Topical cream
and that seems to help only abit as well...we started using a no perfume soap as well, but he still has it .
He is embarrassed to seek the Dr.'s help I think.
I am wondering (in reading other posts) could we try Nozoral cream as a final try before we do see our Dr.??
Can you by this at a pharmacy??
I had a bad bacterial infection that was NOT from  sexual contact and maybe this is a result from that?
Nothing is wrong with the penis area at all ..If you could let me know anything it would great
Thanks so much

Hi,

At this point, I suggest that you persuade your husband to have his condition assessed by a physician. This may be case of balanitis if the affected area involves the head or glans penis.

A fungal infection, dermatitis and bacterial infections may be differentials. However, in the absence of pain, redness and swelling a bacterial infection is less likely. A dermatitis may be considered here if there is dryness and itchiness. It is not unusual for both dermatitis and fungal infections to occur together. This may delay resolution and healing.

Do not self medicate .The area affected has sensitive skin. Antifungals and steroids should be applied sparingly. A microscopic evaluation of skin scrapings from the area may help rule out an underlying fungal infection.
