Verification of Tinea Versicolor please! :)

I think I have tinea versicolor and I want a trained eye to verify.  I live in a very warm and moist climate in FL. I am 22 years old.  I am also an avid soccer player , I tend to sweat even when it is cold out lOL.  Anyways, click on my name and view my pictures of my chest, back and shoulders and let me know what you think.  I have fair skin and the spots showed up out of no where one day. I would describe them as skin clouds.  They itch a little bit when I my body gets hot.  If the pictures are clear enough, the spots are mostly on my upper chest, around my neck, random spots on my back and on my obliques.  Thanks a lot for any help.

Best Regards,
Daniel

Dr. Kaur,

Thank you so much for the help!  I appreciate your feedback and realize it is impossible to make an exact assumption without a physical examination, but your input is still valued by me.  I am interested upon viewing that you are from India.  My mom went there once for a trip.  Best of luck to you and success will come your way with the kind heart that you show by providing us free educated opinions.  I wish to learn more about that region of the world.  I don't know if you know/like this gentleman, but Dinesh D' Souza is one of my mentors and philosophy teachers.  He grew up in India and now lives in the US.  Talk to you soon!

Best Regards,
Daniel

Hello,
The pictures and symptoms are suggestive of tinea versicolor. It is a common skin infection caused by the yeast Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates. Most cases of fungal infections respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Oh and to add, the spots are a slight reddish/pink hue if you can't really see them in the photos I uploaded.. Thanks again!
