WHAT IS THE CONNECTION WITH Molluscum Contagiosum AND HIV

Ive been having some pinkish small bumps for about 5 months already. Located on my bottom stomach area and my groing about 50 total. So  finally decided to get it checked out by the doctor, and they told me its Molluscum Contagiosum and the first doctor told me and a scarry manner this can be HIV and i started to get very nervous and i started asking a lot of questions about this she said its very rare in adults by the way i forgot to mention i am 25 years old so she said that its very typical in kids but not in adults. So then she started to ask me when is the last time i was tested for HIV and so on and it was about 4 years ago the last time i told her so make the long story short i left the office without getting tested and i talked with my girlfriend what happened what the doc said and basically my girl got  tested the next day and came out negative on the test so basically i was happy to here that and no she does not have these spots on her skin so i went to another doc today and again just to get a second opinion and again i heard the same thing as soon as he saw the pinkish spots on me when is the last time youve got tested and i told him its been some time so basically today i got tested and im  completly just paranoid and scared for the outcome of this test maybee someone can write somethin that can maybee help me sleep a little better or maybee sleep worse anything will help know canot focus on life one bit so hope to hear from someone and maybee one day i can give the same answer to somebody else thank ypu so much.

Hello: I have have the same question. I had sex with a stripper with condom (which I am not proud of). I got test 39 days after the incidence and all test came negative including HIV. Now I have got these strange red bumps on by buttocs, arms and legs. They look like Molluscum Contagiosum. Last Wednesday I got tested for Syphilis and HIV my Syphilis came negative and I did not get the results for HIV the doc said the reports will come on Monday. Now I am scared to death. I have an appointment with a dermatelogist on Thrusday. I cannot hold my nerves. Please help.

Can we get an update on the condition?  Did your girlfriend end up with it?  Have you started any methods on treating it?  I don't know why a healthcare proffessional would scare you like that, it made me scared reading it because I have molluscum.  I was tested for HIV in about May of 06 I think and have only been with 1 person since and was tested only about a month after sleeping with him, so unless he had it, I'm ok.  The only thing I have heard in regards to HIV and molluscum is that it is very hard to control and get rid of if you are immunocompromised (HIV).  If you wouldn't mind sharing your test results it may put others minds at ease and encourage them to get tested. Hope to hear from you and best of luck!

Honey, please dont worry. I have heard of other adults having it and NOT having hiv. It is one of those werid things that is pretty contagioues I think. And although it is rare for adults to get it,it is not impossible. That nurse should be ashamed for causing you so much grief and worry!!!
I know alot of people would kill me for saying this, but the chances of you catching hiv are really not that high as long as you arent sleeping around alot or are having gay (anal) sex or shooting up drugs. I read somewhere that hiv has declined alot in the U.S. just since the nineties since so many people are aware of it now and using protection.
The fact that your girlfriend was negative also is a very good thing. It will be ok =)
