Waxing the Beard?

After a couple of years of enduring the painful process of shaving, I have decided that I can no longer cope with it. I have been off of accutane for about six months and it made my skin a nightmare. Thankfully, it cleared up my skin and I no longer get pimples although it has made my skin very irritated from shaving. I first started shaving with an regular razor, but my dermatologist told my to switch to an electric razor because my skin was being ruined. The electric razor is no better because it grinds my skin and leaves it red and inflamed; I have to even put on a tad bit of makeup to even look decent, but I have made sure it does not clog my pores. I have emailed several waxing salons and done my research. I have learned that I would be a good candidate for waxing my beard because it is thin and my roots are not that deep. I have been waxed on my face before and I was not allergic to it. The salon's only concern is the fact that I was on accutane. Since I have been off of it for six months, will it be okay to wax my bear? (I can take the pain)

here is my experience with bear waxing, I have been doing it for 3 years now, I am now a 43 year old male and I started waxing when just turned 40 (i think one month)... Throughout my life I had a lot of ingrown hairs and I even tried VEET chemical shaving products for 20 years ,.., this combined with light acne that never went away...well you get the picture..

So the first time I waxed it took me 3 hours, I had NO experience with applying heating the wax, putting it on,..., how big an area I should do first,..but anyway...the hair came back WEAKER and didnt penetrate my skin so much,..,infact the waxed area,..maybe i had 3-4 hairs ingrowing,...while if I had shaved...it would have been a slaughterhouse of hairs with sharp points growing back into my skin again...

The waxed hair stayed away for 3 weeks!!! this gave me time to treat my acne...and I used (at the time) a combination of anihistomine (didnt work other then moving the infection deeper into my skin, but not as much inflamation on the surface, so opticly more pleasing) and amonia...the amonia idea was great let me tell you why..

The thing is with deep  acne, that your blood or bodily fluids exposed to dry air, will seal off the wound real fast...and keep the infection still in your body under the seal/scab. But when I used Amonia to clean after I had popped an acne infection,..the amonia kept the "wound" from closing with gass and osmoses the infected fluid was drawn out of my body.....

with these off the shelve housecleaning items I cleaned my infection IN 2 DAYS (second day looked really bad as everything was popped and my skin was healing,...looked like I had smallpocks) ANyway....

1) my hair didnt cause new infections
2) my infections where being cleaned and healing process begun
3) AFter this I used a lot of 5% hydroxy cream wich is basicly an oxide using active Oxigen (radical) to kill acne bacteria...THIS STUFF WORKS/

Ok....so after the first time of waxing,...the orientation of hairgrowth CHANGED..its growth direction was more tangent to the skin surface... only use an electical BEARD shaver to super supertrim my beard, I still dont use a knife, but I dont really need to , it looks good, gone to interviews with it...no problem...

I have done 5 wax jobs of my beard (neck+cheaks) over the last 3 years and havent done ANY wax job the last year orso...no need to...the hairs are very very soft compared to when I started,..also every next wax job was easier as the hairs were weaker...

{Painful? Well i Dont know, sure first time maybe...I took long pauses between "wax-ripps"} but if I had to do it now, I can basicly do it in 30 min orso, and the hair woudl stay away for a long time} and come back..even weaker softer and smaller..

ANyway,...if anyone is contemplating waxing a beard because shaving is way to damaging , I TRULY RECOMMEND TO DO IT, but first timers,...it will consume your whole evening....use normal wax you buy in a pot instead of wax-stripps..

Good luck.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Since you had been on Accutane and I have not examined you,so I would suggest you to go in for waxing only if your skin is not showing any hypersensitivity towards it.Also after waxing apply cold compresses and calamine lotion on the face.

If there are any skin rashes, then apply Neosporin cream and go in for laser hair removal instead.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
