to the point I can't sleep at night. I tried hydrocortisone and lotrimin but neither helped at all. I finally tried benadryl (orally) and it worked. I have to take it around the clock though. I am thinking that it could be an allergic reaction
to something because the benadryl is helping but I can't figure out what on earth could be causing it. I have tried finding pictures of a similar rash and can't find anything like it.
Hello,
From the symptoms it can be contact dermatitis, eczema, dermatitis or erythromelalgia. In erythromelalgia, there is severe burning pain (in the small fiber sensory nerves) and skin redness. The attacks are periodic and are commonly triggered by heat, pressure, mild activity, exertion, insomnia and stress.
I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get all these possibilities evaluated.
