What are these odd, reoccurring, pinkish-red bumps on my hands?

This is really more of a curiosity question than anything.  It's a bit strange and I've always wondered what these were.

Ever since I can remember, I've had at least one or two of these small, slightly raised, pinkish-red bumps on my hands.  They do not cause any discomfort whatsoever and they blanch when pressure is applied.  But the strangest thing is that they go away and appear on other places on my hand!  This is actually why I asked the question in the first place.  It is so odd!  For a little while I may have a red spot on my third knuckle, but then it will go away and one will appear on my pinkie instead.

Also, they only appear on my knuckles and finger joints, and never in large numbers.

I've attached an image showing my two current red spots.  One of them is not visible in the picture.  They almost look like acne in the picture, but they do not in real life.  They are more...er...flush with the skin?  I don't know how to explain this, but it is not acne nor does it resemble acne.

Anyway, thanks!

To New Soul and the Physician who responded- I agree, she could not have looked at the photo, nor your description..Shocking how inept, illogical, uncaring, worthless some Doctors are.....just unreal!

They aren't cysts.  Did you even look at the picture or read ANYTHING I wrote?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
One possibility for such a bump is of ganglion cyst. A ganglion cyst is a swelling that often appears on or around joints and tendons in the hand or foot. Other than that, Tendon sheaths or knuckle joints can also leak fluid into pouches; these are known as mucous cysts, and they behave and are treated just as ganglion cysts.

I suggest you to get it examined from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations, and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
