What could this be?

I have had a burning sensation, tingling, numbness, inflammation feeling in my inner thighs or groin area. I have had it for a month now and don't know what it could be. I recieved these symptoms after i recieved unprotected oral from a woman i am seeing who told me she had HSV-2 after she gave me oral.the doctors told me i should not worry because its very rare that you get HSV-2 through oral from a person who has type 2. I got tested and my results came back negative and the doctor gave me hydrocortisone cream but it has not worked. I have no visible signs of a rash it just burns and feels in flammed everyday at times. What could this be?

ok you say the "physical examination and the investigations that will follow" but what if there is no symptoms for the doc to treat and i am feeling fine will they still be able to do test or ways to find out what "was" going on with me?

Hello,
From the symptoms the possibility of parasthesia definitely needs to be ruled out. Your doctor will be able to confirm the diagnosis by the history, physical examination and the investigations that will follow. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

I have to wait an additional month to get health insurance. And until I get health insurance I have to wait to see a specialist on dermatology. This really ***** because I still have symptoms.

Hello,
The tingling sensations and numbness do not seem to be related to herpes. Most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal.

This feeling of tingling sensations that you are having are called Paresthesia. Chronic paresthesia indicates a problem with the functioning of neurons.

Parasthesias are common in alcoholics and metabolic disorders like diabetes, hypothyroidism, and hypoparathyroidism. They can also be due to peripheral vascular disease, vitamin B12 deficiency or malnutrition.

Get your blood sugar and thyroid hormones levels evaluated. You can take some vit B12 for some days and see if the sensations are gone or not.

In case the symptoms persist then please consult a neurologist as it can be due to some neurological disorder. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
