by chris00000, Apr 13, 2008 11:01AM
I have small pink itchy bumps on my skin that started on the top of my left hand and spread to behind my knees, inner thighs, underarms and under my breast.I've been using corn starch and it seems to be helping.I have looked online for pictures that look similar to what I have but haven't found anything that substantial.Any advice?

Hi,

Differentials in you case will be a dermatitis and a fungal infection. Sweat rash or miliaria may also be considered.

How would you describe you rash?

Is this flat or elevated ?

Is there scaling involved?

At this point, the more common skin conditions like dermatitis and fungal infections are to be considered. Dermatitis is a chronic and recurrent inflammatory skin condition. It may occur anywhere in the body. There is no definite treatment for dermatitis. On the other hand, fungal infections may also be chronic and recurrent. They usually affect areas like the breasts, and  groin. These areas are moist and frequently covered and thus encourages growth and colonization of these organisms.

Have you had this assessed by a physician before?

Cornstarch absorbs moisture and sweat and may alleviate itchiness that comes with a sweat rash a fungal infections. You may need some antifungal medications or topical corticosteroids to help resolve your condition. Discuss this with your physician.
