What do you reccommend I should do?

by Fins11, May 24, 2008 09:32AM
The description at the top sounds exactly like what I have, except mine has lasted three months and I still have these symptoms. It doesn't seem to be getting any better. A month ago I saw a general physician and I was tested for the major STDs, which came back negative. The doctor told me it could be a fungus and perscribed me with an anti-fungal cream. This did not work. It still looks the same and it's been three months!

What can I do about this? What type of doctor should I see? Any advice???

Please help.

Hi,

What symptoms are you having?

This could be due to acne/imples/ or infection of the hair follicles called folliculitis or some bacterial infection/ fungal infction or some skin nodules etc.

Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions.

It would be best to reconsult your doctor about your symptoms if they do not resolve and get a proper clinical examination.

Keep the area clean and wear clothes washed in a few drops of chlorhexidine preferably and dried in the sun.

You could take oral antihistamine or antiallergic medications for the itching.

It would be best to see a skin specialist for your symptoms. Let us know about what your doctor advises.

Regards.

My symptoms are a red dry but shiney spot on the head of my penis. It is not itchy and does not really burn unless rubbed. It is not raised or cratered. It is flat. Sometimes the spot dries up and the skin starts to peel off or falls off usually in the shower. But, underneath it's the same red dry shiney spot. It has not gotten any better and it's been three months!

I saw a doctor about a month ago and I was tested for the major STDs, which came back Negative. The doctor said it could be a fungus but wasn't sure. He told me to wait it out and see if it goes away. He said if it doesn't go away, I could come back and he can do a biopsy. It hasn't gone away yet. Is there another option before I get a biopsy on my penis. Should I see a dermatologist?

This is very embarrassing and I'm worried that this may leave some type of scar. I don't know what to do. Do you think I should see a dermatologist? What should I do?

Hi,

It would be best to see a skin specialist about this and get a proper clinical examination. This could be a bacterial or fungal skin infection or some other skin lesion.

It could probably get alright with medications. If not , only then should a biopsy be considered.

Let us know what the skin specialist advises and post us about how you are doing.

Regards.
