What is this rash?

I'm a 35 year old female.  I started with a rash on my upper chest and upper back a week ago.  It's mildly red, itchy, and raised (very small, acne like bumps, but NO white head).  Since then, it's gradually gotten worse.  It seems to be creeping down my torso, arms, and up my neck.  I'm not on any medication and haven't changed any environmental things (detergent, soaps, etc.)  Can you clue me in on what this might be?

Hi,

This could be an allergic reaction, irritation, or dermatitis. In particular, Miliaria or sweat rash,  is a skin disease marked by small and itchy rashes. It is a common ailment in hot and humid conditions, and is caused by  the sweat gland ducts being plugged due to dead skin cells or bacteria. The trapped sweat leads to irritation, itching and to a rash of very small blisters, usually in a localized area of the skin. These rashes may simultaneously occur at a number of areas on a sufferer's body, the most common including the face or neck and areas including skin folds, areas of the body that may rub against clothing, such as the back, chest, and stomach.

This can be prevented by avoiding activities that induce sweating, wearing light clothing and in general, avoiding hot and humid weather.  In most cases the rash of miliaria sometimes resolve without intervention. It has also been suggested that the use of topical antibacterials and soaps may shorten the duration of symptoms. If it persists, it would be best to have this evaluated further for proper management.

Take care and regards.
