What is this single rash on pubic area?

So a little over a month ago I shaved my pubic area which I've done in the past.  Although I've had a mild case of redness, it's the first time it's stayed this long and symptomatic.  It started as a single pimple looking bump. I applied warm compress and neosporin which I thought was helping.  There was finally drainage and after a couple weeks the area would look flakey.  After 2-3 weeks after it showed up, the area would occasionally itch but then stop.  I've seen an NP and my primary care provider and they said it was an ingrown hair.  And now the area has gotten flatter, but larger (maybe size of a nickel), drains more and still itches sometimes during work and before showering (after rooming clothing).  I attend the gym daily (mainly weight training) and my job involves a lot of moving around.  What the hell is going on?  Honestly, I have had unprotected sex before but with clean women AND recently been STD/STI tested and everything came back negative!  If someone would pass along a peace of mind I'd really appreciate it!  Thank you.

PS: I can provide pictures if there was a way to do so?
