What is this?

Hi,

About a month ago I sat in a hot tub with a woman who is going through a divorce after 19  years of marriage.  I do not know her sexual history (but I do know what she told me).  I thought a relationship was in the works, but she apparently just wanted a moment of escape from her trials and tribulations.  She said that I was the first guy that she had been with since separating from her husband 2 years ago and that she never cheated on her husband.  We were in the hot tub for about five hours.  After a few hours, things in the hot tub got “warm” and there was a brief moment of penetration (unprotected) which did not last more than a few seconds because it was awkward for me in the hot tub.  She did sit on my lap for quite some time while we made out.  We shared a bed that night and slept in the buff, although there was no further sexual intercourse.  It was dark and I did not get a look at her front pubic region.  About 2 weeks later I developed a small, itchy  pimple above my belly button and a weird looking patch of bite like sores (painless and itchless) about five inches above my left knee on my inner thigh.

Then, a few days after that numerous small pinhead (some were larger than pinheads) size pimples (red) began developing sporadically all over my thighs and some even on my knees.  A few of these pimples even appeared on my arms, lower legs, chest, and neck.  When they first appeared on my thighs, I saw my general practitioner and he told me that all of this was just a rash caused by hair follicles, etc and nothing to worry about.  He also examined my penis and scrotum and found nothing noteworthy.

The day after I saw my doctor I developed a sunburn-like sensation on my skin (all over... arms, legs, thighs, underwear lines, neck, trunk, shoulders), but was most concerned with that sensation on thighs and underwear lines.  Areas that clothes touch are painful (skin is sensitive).   About a week ago, my butt broke out with numerous larger and smaller pimples...there are many of them sporadically scattered over my butt cheeks and area above my crack (lower back).  Some of these pimples are painful and it can be painful to sit on them.  They do not bleed, but some of them look quite raw.  I  used Desitin and Neosporin on them each for a couple of days, but they persist.

I had a tingling sensation on the tip of my penis, but it probably predated the hot tub experience.  Penile skin also sometimes sensitive or slightly itchy, it appears a little dry and cracked, nothing there alarmed my doctor.  Also had some back muscle pain after the hot tub, but some of that was present before hot tub (I think associated with exercise class).  The hot tub temperature was 98 degrees.  A few of these pinhead size pimples are randomly scattered  in my pubic hair region (below the belly button).

I am a 37 year old male.  Did I contract an STD from this woman or her hot tub?  What does this sound like?

It doesn't sound like an STD.  I think your doctor was correct to identify the bumps as related to follicles.  You can get folliculitis from a hot tub, but bumps of that kind are much larger and redder and they come right away, not 2 weeks later.

I think the sensations you describe come from worry about the rash.  If I were you, I'd consult your doctor again.  Perhaps antibiotics by mouth or externally might be worth considering.

Best.

I have had a rash for approximately 36 hours. It statred in the morning on my hand and looked like a clump of small distinct bug bites, I just thought it was a little welt or something. I now have the small bumps all over my arms, legs, feet, hands, a few on my cheeks, and my waistline and they seem to be spreading. They are very itchy and went to a Dr. who didn't know what they were though possibly a viral rash, he only prescribed my zyrtec to help with itching. Do have any idea what could be causing these, I am 25 in good health and not taking any medications.
