What is this?

by ringfinger, Nov 07, 2008 12:26PM
I have a donut shaped ring about 1/2 an inch in diameter on the back of my left hand at the base of my middle finger just to the right of the middle.  It is slightly raised (like a new scar) and appears a bit darker than the rest of my hand.  It doesn't itch and normally I don't even know it is there.  If I rub it while drying my hands it may sting for a bit but that is about it.

I had one like it on the back of my right hand  but it went away using a cream that my Dr rx'd to me.  This one is not going away when I use the cream and am wondering what it is.  Any ideas?  I have an appointment with a dermatologist but not until the end of Feb/09.  Should I be concerned about passing it on to others??
