What is wrong with my finger?

The top part of my right middle finger gets dry easily, and when that happens, skin comes off. After it comes off, the skin grows back, but very soon after, it comes off again. This started a year ago and is still happening. I've used different kinds of lotion, but that doesn't seem to help. It is painful, so I'd sometimes put a bandage over it. Today, it got worse; there's actually a big crack, which caused it to bleed. Its temperature is also warmer than all my other fingers. Could you please let me know what the problem is, and what I would need to do? Thank you!

Hello, I have the dry, cracked peeling fingertips.  I had it for months.  I saw dermatologist (waste of a visit) did a patch test and said i was allergic to something.  I tried every cream and medication they would give me.  I have psoriasis and cracked heel on my feet.  My foot doctor told me to use Flexitol Heel Balm to use on my feet.  Putting this cream on my feet with my hands, I noticed that it largely reduced and eliminated the cracking on my fingers.  I now use this product twice a day once in the morning and once in the evening.  I cannot tell you what a godsend it is.  I have not cracked or bled since I started using this product.  It is about 13.00 in Rite Aid and you can also find it on the internet.  I came back to these blogs because I read for days and nights looking for something that worked.  Everyone was so supportive, but nothing worked for me. Now I am using a Balm for my feet on my Fingers and it is working.  Thank God.  I just wanted to come back and share for someone who has gone through the same suffering.  I actually have my fingers and my feed back!  This is not a cure, but it works better than anything a doctor or anyone else has given me to try.  The CRACKING AND BLEEDING HAVE STOPPED!!! I would love to get feedback from others.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

Various possibilities for peeling fingertip are trauma and allergic or irritant contact dermatitis like washing dishes without wearing gloves, contact with harsh detergents, soaps and lotions that contain perfume can cause hands and fingertips to become irritated and peel.Sometimes cold, dry air can cause  peeling and dermatitis or fungal infections can also cause peeling.

During the day, hydrate and protect hands from sun damage with a protective and moisturizing cream. At night, repair them with creams formulated from glycolic acid—a must for improving skin texture and tone. For a more intensive nighttime treatment, apply cream and then cover hands with gloves or socks. I would also suggest you to avoid washing hands with soap repeatedly and use gloves while doing any household work.
Also apply a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the finger.

If the symptoms persist then consultation of a dermatologist will be the best.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
