hair. It was itchy, I scratched, and one bled. Didn’t think anything of it. About 3 weeks ago I shaved again, and as of a week ago, I inspected my groin
to find many of these bumps which are either new or I hadn’t noticed before: http://s943.photobucket.com/albums/ad280/unness99/?action=view¤t=pic05.jpg

area so that was impossible. What’s strange is that by the time I made the very first shave, I was sexually monogamous with a girlfriend of a few years. (I don’t think she cheated, and I don’t think my roommate is lying but of course ANYTHING is possible)
All my life, I have had some skin abnormalities that are not sexually related (had them since childhood), so now I am starting to think maybe it’s not molluscum or HPV but instead some kind of interaction between my previous skin condition and the shaving.
The following three pictures are of skin conditions in the genital region which I have had long before becoming sexually active (I include them so as to compare with the skin growths in question)
Dots on my scrotum which I’ve had forever: http://s943.photobucket.com/albums/ad280/unness99/?action=view¤t=pic04.jpg
Extremely TINY (smaller than 1 mm) dots on my foreskin which I’ve had forever:

What are the new things? What are the old things? How likely is this molluscum vs. hpv vs. folliculitis or fordyce aggravation caused by shaving?
Hello,
From the pictures it looks like molluscum contagiosum and hence this possibility needs to be evaluated. The MC rash initially appears as smooth, pearly to flesh-colored, dome-shaped papules. With time, the center becomes soft and indented (umbilicated) with a white curdlike core. This core may be squeezed out easily. I suggest you to get it examined from a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Doctor,
Thank you for your reply. I saw a dermatologist and it is indeed molluscum.
After doing much research, I am very interested in Siddha medicinal treatment in addition to conventional western treatment. I have read very good testimonial about this topical medicine online, and read that it is called "unni marunthu" for treatment of warts, molluscum and other skin problems. As a medical practitioner in India, have you any knowledge of how someone like myself in American could obtain or order this ointment?
Hello,
It is good that you have been diagnosed properly. Unfortunately I am unaware of this treatment in India. Molluscum contagiosum is a common, benign, self limiting viral infection of the skin. In allopathic medicine, treatment includes salicyclic acid application, curettage and silver nitrate pencils and glutaraldehyde and formaldehyde preparations.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
