What to do when Accutane doesn't work

by deoxyribose, Jun 21, 2009 06:53PM
I was put on Accutane when I was 22 and at the wrap up of the 6month treatment, all my acne came back a month after I stopped taking it. Every since then, I have been on Accutane, except the occasional time I try in vain to get off it again, always with the same results, and I am now 31. I have to get off this stuff, it is robbing me of my vision and puts me into a psychotic state of depression whenever I take it. I can't stand it anymore. I stopped it again about two months ago now and the same issue is coming back. First, I start to get these huge zits on my neck, then my skin becomes like sandpaper all around my neck and down my chest, eventually reaching up to my jaw and then up to the rest of my face. This sandpaper eventually turns into white and black heads and I am once again covered, all over my scalp, all over my face, all around my neck and down my back and chest, with the worst pustules and black heads. It is making my life unbearable. What can I do? I have been on every antibiotic out there for acne, and they just screwed me up worse with the digestion problems and the systemic yeast issues. I also tried every over the counter product available, and I tried every available prescription topical cream and soap as well. What is left? I changed my diet (removed: gluten, dairy, soy, corn, caffeine, sugar, processed foods and most cooked food and most red meat, added a lot more fruits, veggies, herb and raw garlic) and am trying to avoid sodium laurel sulfate products as well, and my issue still remains.

This discussion is related to proactive/accutane/doryx - didn't work for me.
