What type of antibiotics for a bacterial skin infection?

I have a minor "lesion" on the shaft of my penis that appeared after unprotected vaginal and oral sex. There was a tear in the skin, and this tear is what got infected. My GF was on UTI antibiotics at the time, and was tested for STDs 2 months ago (all clear). No pain, just a red spot with slight swelling and small cracks in the skin. It seems minor since there's no itch/burn/pain. But it has been there for 2 weeks. A few days after this appeared there was minor discharge from the crack in the skin. I had it swabbed and my doctor tested it for herpes, which came back negative. The spot did not respond to OTC antifungals, so it looks like it's some sort of bacterial infection. I'm going back to the doctor today to ask for antibiotics. Should I ask for some sort of topical antibiotic cream only? Or can the cream be combined with antibiotic pills?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but this swelling can be due to friction rub or chafing.
Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of Neosporin cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a doctor.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
