White Spot on Upper Lip

I have recently noticed a small growth on my upper lip. The growth is white and about 2mm in size and seems to be getting bigger.  I have talked with my doctor and he has told me that its from smoking and continual use of that portion of my lip. My question for anyone would be should I wait to see if it keeps growing or go and have it removed or treated ASAP.  I'm pretty sure its a cancerous growth and I want to get it off of me.  My doctor says its a precancer?  What the heck does that mean?  and why wouldn't he have me get it looked at by a dermatologist?  Help me I'm dying here!

hey idk man i recently have developed wut seems to b the exact same thing ur talking about on my upper lip but i have 2. i havent seen my doctor about it but it seems to b getting worse. Now i smoke a lot of blunts so that could b it but idk. id like to hope thats the reason but could it b an std? i need to go to doctors i guess. mine r just 2 whits spots near the middle of my upper lip and is quite embarrassing. did u figure nething out?
