Hello,
Although the condition that you are having may resemble Fordyce spots but they are not contagious and your partner is showing similar symptoms. Fordyce spots are yellowish-white granules on the inner surface and border of the lips. They are non-infectious and a natural occurrence on the body.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Thank you for your response. I researched your suggestions. I wasn't able to find much of a similarity between mucocele, fungal infection, nor actinic cheilitis and what I'm experiencing. Lichen planus might be a possibility. Ultimately I found that I identify most with Fordyce Spots (in appearance and in symptoms). The things that has me a little confused though is that my husband seems to have these spots now. I understand Fordyce Spots are non-contagious. It may be coincidence that he has them (and considering they are common) but I find it interesting.
Hello,
From the symptoms these white spots can be due to Fordyce spots, mucocele if found on the inside of lips, fungal infection, lichen planus or actinic cheilitis.
Actinic cheilitis is a form of cheilitis which is the counterpart of actinic keratosis of the skin. Without examination and biopsy, it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis and hence I suggest you to get a biopsy skin done.
