Why are my lips feeling dry and grainy, and how can I prevent this?

My upper lip, since yesterday has felt dry and 'grainy'. It has a similar texture to sandpaper. At first I was worried this was fordyce spots, as I get these on my vulva, however you can't really see any bumps on the lip unless you look very closely. The lips aren't painful, just an unattractive texture. I'm unsure whether it's linked but I've had some issues with the skin on my face recently: I was getting a lot of blemishes, so used a new 'miracle scrub', which includes sacrylic acid, and the next day I woke up with a very dry, red raw face. My lips weren't really too dry, but I kept using a lipbalm to ensure that they didn't become as dry as the rest, as well as applying moisterizer to my skin twice daily, (though it's still quite dry) . I woke up with my lips having this texture three days after waking up with the dry skin. Does anyone know what this could be? Do you think it should go away on its own?
