I have a pain that ranks a 9 out of 10 inside my belly button, just under the skin. I do not understand what the pain is, and what it means. Do you have an answer for it?
Are there other signs or symptoms present? Umbilical pain could be due to a referred pain from your intestines, adhesions from prior surgery or infection, or umbilical hernia. In adults, too much abdominal pressure can cause an umbilical hernia. Other risk factors for umbilical hernia include: obesity, heavy lifting, coughing, multiple pregnancies and fluid in the abdominal cavity. If it persists, it would be best to have this evaluated further for proper management. A complete medical history and physical examination are important in reaching a diagnosis. Take care and regards.
