. Other people didn't seem to notice it that much, but it always bothered me. Over the years, I learned to hate it. Plus, it started to become increasingly more irritating because I play the violin, and it would rub up against the chin
. I went back to the dermatologist and this time she cut it out, much deep than before, and stitched me up. After I got the stitches out, it started to heal pretty well, until one day I noticed a dark bump with pink around it. Thinking it had grown back again, I went to the office and the dermatologist looked at it. After a few minutes realized that it was not a mole, rather it was just a piece of something (dirt or who knows what) that had gotten stuck under my skin during the healing process, causing it to get irritated. So she took a Q-tip and sort of peeled it out and told me it should now heal normally. It has been a little over a month, and it has not healed at all. It has actually gotten redder and is starting to ich and hurt(nothing too major, just very bothersome). I don't think she got all of whatever that stuff was out from under my skin and it's still irritated. It also gets a lot more sore when I play the violin, although I really try not to rub it against the chin rest. I don't know what to do. I still want that spot gone and healed properly, because it makes me feel so much less confident and is very bothersome. Any advice?
Hello,
It can be a cyst or due to recurrent nevus. Recurrent nevus is a melantic skin lesion which clinically resembles a superficial spreading melanoma at the site of a recent shave removal of a nevus. What happens is that melanocytes left behind in the wound regrow in an abnormal pattern. This is accompanied by scarring, inflammation, and blood vessel changes and this both the clinical and histologic impression of a melanoma.
. A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac occurring just under the skin which contains a "pasty" or "cheesy" looking substance called keratin. They may occur anywhere on body but scalp, ears, back, face, and upper arm, are common sites for sebaceous cysts. Blocked sebaceous glands, swollen hair follicles and excessive testosterone production will cause such cysts.
Generally no treatment is required but they become painful then it means they are infected,Then surgical excision by traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision may be required.
