YEAST INFECTON

I was just wondering if a yeast infection can be spread by skin to skin contact. I wore a condom when I had sex with my Ex, but a week later I got a yeast infection on my penis, tesiacles and it spread to my legs. From the information on the net it I have all of the symptoms for intertrigo. I have a cream from the doctor for it.  it seems to be work somewhat. I was just wondering if i got the infection on my own or if being exposed to her vaginal fluids on my skin were the cause. Condoms do protect against yeast infects right? or could skin on skin contact spread it? Thanks.
