acne and prednisone

by TRIGGER313, Jan 03, 2004 12:00AM
Hello i am a 27 y/o male with colitis. and i the middle of a flare up. my Current dose of prednisone is 30mg, and as symptoms settle down they will taper me off the junk. My question is I got these break outs on my face, shoulders, and now my left flank. Is there anything to remedy or retard these breakouts.

Steroids by mouth (or injection) can induce an acne-like eruption, but this is usually on the chest rather than the face.  You may simply have post-adolescent acne, which is common enough.  A skin  doctor should be able to recommend a regimen of topical or oral medications to settle it down.  And to the extent that prednisone has contributed, tapering off should help too.

Nest.
