acute painful, red urethral opening on one side

acute painful, red urethral opening on one side

For 3 days i have noticed a pain on my penis opening at the tip, only visible if i partially spread the orifice open. it is only on one side of the urethral opening, the other side appears normal and doesnt bother me.  The site looks red, inflamed, and irritated,  and i cant tell if there is an extremely small bump or not... it doesnt really burn on urination, but mainly just feels sensitive and irritated against my clothing.  I thought perhaps i had just rubbed it raw playing basketball that day, but after 2 more days it really isnt any better, and so I am concerned.  I am in my mid-20s, have been married for years, and have ever only had one sex partner, so i couldnt have an STD.  After looking at it and touching it, it will continue burning for a few minutes.  I tried some neosporin cream, but it hurt to touch it when i applied it.  Any advice on what this might be, or what I could do about it?  I live an hour from my doctor, and that is what i have not been in yet.  In case I didnt adequately describe the lesion, the reddened area is on the tip, but only visible if i begin to spread the opening.  Again, it is only on the right side of the opening, and i cant tell how far the redness goes in.  I do not notice any drainage, and have no frequency, urgency, or other symptoms of a UTI.  Thank you!

Hello,
Since you got this rash after playing basketball, so the possibility of chafing is very high. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful.

I suggest you to get this evaluated from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
