anal itch

by J, Jan 24, 2001 12:00AM
While having my menses, my anus has itched seriously after driving for 2 hours (round trip=4 hrs)and eating out.  I rarely eat out, but it does not mean that I get reaction each time eating out.  I am just suspicious about it.  My skin (everywhere)is very sensitive and get allergies and itch all the time.  However, I have never gotten my anus itchy this bad.  It's not red, but there is a bump around the anus, and it itches the most.  I don't know if it was there all the time, or it is something associated with the inflammation. However, I am sure that it's swollen.  It's so embarrassing to see a doctor.  Could you tell me what over-the-counter ointment I can use (Cortizone for Anal Itch perhaps)?

I can't think of any connection with food or menses, but anal itch is pretty common, and driving long distances can aggravate it.  Try using OTC 1% hydrocortisone, and keeping the area mosit with the cream of your choice.

Best.
