angioedemia with brain/organ damage

by drbrainard, Oct 27, 2008 07:50PM
I've been living with angioedema but tested negative for HAE.  I've had lots of internal swelling i.e. intracranially, abdominally, renally as well as pulmonary edema much of my pain is idiopathic in nature and needs to be addressed.  I'm allergic to NSAIDS and acetaminophen as well.  My memory is shot and very short term.  My lungs seem like they are retaining a lot of water as well.  My condition presents itself with moderate splotchy red rashes, then, raised red patches.  Now, my lip gets swollen.  I've had rashes all my life and eczema too.   I'm taking prednisone with pepcid but my hiatal hernia still seems to complicate or obstruct my airway.  The cold has really made it difficult to breath and as soon as I get in the house the heat whacks me back outside.  My gastroenterologist detected and diagnose me with a hiatal hernia 3 weeks back.  My lip was swollen during the procedure and made no attempt to link my edema to the cause of my hernia.  My intracranial pressure has built and subsided many times for the past 6-12 months and now I'm a bit on the looped-end of life.  I plan on flying back to a moderate climate to bring my edemic symptoms down as well as my swelling but my brain seems a bit cooked.  Could I be dealing with a cerebral hernia and what should be done?  I'm a bit confused and need some guidance.  My PCP never calls back and faith heals me constantly.  I finally and faithfully left him for the ER, where, a nurse diagnosed my angioedema.  How common is all this and what should I do?
