Hello

i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what might be wrong with my hands, it came on about 5 years ago but seems to have gotten worse lately (just moved into an office job) when i tought it would have gotten better, i have attached a picture, the strange art is my index finger and thumb  on my bad hand has absolutely nothing on it, im wondering if it is soriasis, it has recently gotten very itchy during the night when i sleep, i try not to scratch but its very itchy so i have to scratch and it aggrivates it and it weeps, i try to moisturize as much as possible and my skin does crack and bleed and flake, my finger nails on the bad fingers are pitted and not looking too flash i assumed it was due to the use of diprosone.

hello sir/miss! this looks like psoriasis. it is a very common condition that usually begins from ages 15-35. Psoriasis seems to be passed down through families. Doctors think it probably occurs when the body's immune system mistakes healthy cells for dangerous substances. Skin cells grow deep in the skin and normally rise to the surface about once a month. but a person who has psoriasis process it too fast (about 2 weeks instead of once a month) so dead skin cells build up on the skin's surface instead. you could try an oatmeal bath because that helps loosen the dead skin and such! but I would suggest seeing a dr because of course, Im not one! hehe :) best of luck and hope i helped!

thankyou annie, i have read that lack of sun could be a cause for psoriasis, as i have just moved into an office role i now see very little sun so maybe that is why it has gotten worse?

Thanks for your advice anyway

Hello,
It can be due to dyshidrotic eczema or pompholyx. It is characterized by a sudden onset of many deep-seated pruritic, clear vesicles which itch and then peel off. As a result the skin may also fissure.
Dyshidrotic is a form of dermatitis skin that is seen in patients with Atopic Dermatitis, contact with a chemical substance like nickel, or cobalt, too much emotional trauma, or stress or even when there are extreme weather and temperature changes. Smoking and excessive coffee consumption are believed to play an aggravating role.

I suggest you to get an examination done from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
