are warts contagious through swimming

by bella8863, Mar 26, 2009 07:04PM
I was told today my son can't come back to swim class because he has warts on his hands.  Are they contagious through swimming, and if so is there anything I can do to help the situation.  My neighbor suggested liquid bandaid.
We are treating them through a dermatologist.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Warts are common and are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are contagious when in contact with the skin of an infected person and it is also possible to get warts from using towels or other objects used by an infected person.  They  disappear after a few months but can last for years and can recur. There are several treatments available but I suggest that you continue with the treatment prescribed by your dermatologist.

Take care and keep us posted.
