bacterial infection

I went to the doctor to have my yearly pap.  I told him about getting this lumps in my arm pits that hurt very bad.  He told me they were a bacterial infection and gave me meds.  My question is I just got a phone call and I have an abnormal papsmear could this bacterial infection make my pap abnormal.  I just have a baby 2 years ago and never had anything abnormal come back???
