bad rash

Hello, I was looking through the arcives and found what i think is just what i have on my face: the Question Posted By: Tonya on Thursday, January 13, 2000. I have tried a couple types of remedies. I tried Lotrisone Cream 15GM, it made it go away but after i stoped using it the rash came back. Then I got Metrogel 0.75%. all this has done is make my chin look worse than it has ever looked. I know it says wait a couple of weeks be for it will help but I am on my 11th day and my chin is all scailey and itchier than before should I stop using it or is this the road to recovery ? I know this is a lengthy letter, a email response will be fine for me.
Thank you
Lisa

Lisa:

It's hard to be sure from your description, but Lotrisone, as a strong steroid, sometimes induces a form of rosacea--when you use the Lotrisone it gets sort of better, but flares like mad as soon as you stop.  In my experience, using an oral antibiotic like doxycycline is best, not just a topical like Metrogel.  (If you got Lotrisone and Metrogel, I presume you're seeing a physician . . .?)  Treatment takes about 4-6 weeks, but the condition does go away completely.

Good luck.
