bad surgeon or HPV?

by 3136, Oct 19, 2004 12:00AM
12 years ago I masturbated so frequently and agressively that I incurred a couple tears at the bottom of the helmet/shaft merging point.(top dead center to the base of the helmet where it meets the shaft).
The area healed mostly but eventually/often retore and became pretty inflamed. It became scarred over time, enough to have a raised bump of tissue. I had then got a dumb idea to be a "do-it-yourself penile surgeon" and get rid of the scarred unsightly tissue. Well it was very painful and just made the scarred bump a raw mess.. it bled like hell of course. I left it alone for a while and it healed with a slightly larger bump. Back to Masturbating!
The scar tissue never seemed to be absorbed entirely...so I picked at it enough to have the process seem to start all over again. Many times over the last 12 years I have picked at this thing. It's almost a daily thing for me to worry about and poke around at.

The healing tissue seems to build up to a point and then gets re-irritated, then inflamed, especially during erections
I have stopped masturbating for about a week or so at a time  and it seems to get a little better and subsides to a smaller bump. . . then back to the masturbation with all of the lubes and agression and it gets easily irritated and raised, sometimes creating another small tear along the edge of what had healed before... ARGGHH!

I have questioned an STD, HPV or something ..? I have seen a lot in the way of description and illustrations and it doesn't act like a wart, kind of "looks" like it. No other symptoms other than the raised tissue on that very spot that was torn so long ago...No other accompanying sores or anything else.
Wife of 7 years does not have HPV. But Of course I worry about the "what if" ... I tend to be quite compulsive about this area of my body as other things... yeah, I see a doctor for that :)

I still masturbate at the rate of 1-2 times a day and have noticed the scar bump just doesn't seem to want to heal and it gets sore. Is this bump not getting better because I use oil/silicon based lubes or the frequency of masturbation or both? Am I just not letting it heal correctly?

Thanks for the long read.

It doesn't sound anything like HPV or warts.  I think you have some sort of inflamed scar tissue which you are aggravating by masturbating and other causes of friction.  I think you need to speak to a dermatologist about the proper way to take care of the area, but I really don't think that you need to worry about STD's.

Best.

I'm not doctor, but I'm betting you should stop masturbating for a little while - more than just a week at a time.  If when you masturbate you tear the tissue on your penis you must be aware that it will grow back; however, if you do not allow it to heal appropriately to begin with and masturbate more you will develop scar tissue.

Obviously, doing your own plastic surgery (the scar removal) did not work and actually end up generating more scar tissue.  Don't do your own surgical work!  I'd recommend you refrain from masturbating for several months and be sure to soak your penis in a warm solution of water and SEA SALT, do *not* use iodized salt.  Its the same thing a doctor might tell you for hemroids, or a piercer for a piercing.  To increasing healing rate, reduction of scar tissue, and over-all goodness:

Consult a Doctor!

Do not masturbate for 2 months, or until -fully- healed.
Soak penis daily for 15-20 minutes per day in a warm 4tbsp sea salt/gallon distilled water solution.  Soak more than once a day if you can, it'll help.

You may end up with a scar tissue bump regardless, which you will have to live with.  However! When you're older you could consult a physcian -and- a plastic surgeon about having it fixed up a little.  ^_^

Cheers.
